Dajackie Kennels were established over 40 years ago. From this proud Kennel came some of the finest Australian Cattle Dogs, that were highly coveted for their working ability, and performance in the show ring. Whilst the main breed of those early days was the Australian Cattle Dog, Australian Kelpies and Border Collies were also bred and they too were prized in the show ring and on working properties. Always there, making their presence known throughout the Kennels and the household were those big hearted, little dogs, then known as Miniature Fox Terriers. Not even half the size of the Australian Working Dogs bred in the Dajackie Kennels, these feisty little Foxies undoubtedly ruled the roost with a "paw" of iron, spent their days keeping the working dog puppies in line and ridding the farm sheds, kennel, stables and homestead of rats and mice. At night they could be found peacefully curled up on or in the children's beds. IT IS THESE FABULOUS LITTLE DOGS, NOW KNOWN AS THE MINI FOXIE, THAT WE ARE VERY PROUD TO PRESENT. |

| My association with the Mini Foxie began in 1951, when as a child I was given my first Miniature Fox Terrier. I emigrated with my parents to Australia in 1950, from South Wales in the United Kingdom and was really missing my dog who had to go and live with my uncle, when we came to Australia, so my mum and dad gave me a lively little bundle of a puppy for my birthday in 1950. That was my first introduction to the little dog with the biggest heart - the Miniature Fox Terrier. Since then, there has been almost constant ownership of the little dogs in my family, and life would just not be the same without them. A few years ago I became a proud member of the Mini Foxie Club of Australia Inc. (formerly known as the Miniature Fox Terrier Club of Australia) which is an independent Breed Club dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Miniature Fox Terrier (Mini Foxie). This very active club had been formed by like minded people on the 20th July 1986, when several prominent breeders met at Warwick Farm, Sydney, NSW and formed the Miniature Fox Terrier Club of Australia. Later, the club drafted a Constitution and wrote a Breed Standard with the assistance of members of the Royal New South Wales Canine Council. I did not join the Mini Foxie Club until a few years ago, but have always been passionate about the little dogs and the future of the breed. I think the Mini Foxie just has to be the very best, family dog that there is. Whilst only a small dog they are often referred to as "a big dog in little dog's clothing", such is their courage and tenacity. It was my late husband and I that began breeding dogs in 1960 - now it is my grandson Mitchell who lives with me, and backs me up and encourages me to go on breeding these wonderful little dogs on our property near Bathurst, in the Central West of New South Wales. Visitors are always welcome, by appointment and we are pleased to answer any general enquiries about Mini Foxies, and what we might have for sale |
